Public Workstations

The following machines are publicly available for all students with CS accounts.

Other machines may be available based on course enrollment or research lab.

• In the Computer Science Machine Room, available via SSH or Mosh:
  • “Crowns” – x86_64 servers (Dual 6-Core CPUs, 32GB RAM) running 64-bit RHEL 6, named after types of crowns:
    • diadem.cs.brandeis.edu
    • tiara.cs.brandeis.edu

If you attempt to connect, but receive an error message that includes text like Unable to negotiate... no matching host key type found, then run the following:

echo “HostKeyAlgorithms +ssh-rsa” >> ~/.ssh/config

and try again.

Note: Effective August 2022, to ssh from off-campus you must use the ITS VPN.
